Connie Gregory, 70, passed away at home on April 29th, 2024. She was born in SE Iowa. Connie lived in Mount Pleasant for many years. She served in the US Army from 1977 to 1985 and served during Desert Storm. After her service, she worked for the Department of Corrections in Fort Madison and Mount Pleasant.

Upon relocating to Des Moines in 2000, she transferred her employment to the women’s facility in Mitchellville. Connie’s passion was to help women veterans through their challenges. She was a strong advocate for our country and was active in the WACVA (Women’s Army Corp Veterans Associations) in which she held various position both in her Chapter 120 and at the national level where she currently was the 2nd Vice. Connie was a life-time member of the American Legion and a current member of Post 663 in Urbandale.

Connie was a recognized chaplain and an ordained minister. She had also received her doctorate in Nouthetic Counseling from Shalom Bible College. She was a firm believer in Jesus Christ and loved to worship with her “church families”. Connie was a current member of the Base, an apostolic center, where her presence is definitely missed.

Connie loved sports of all kinds – especially football and lately, of course, women’s basketball. She loved traveling and made many friends around the world, especially in Kenya. She was an accomplished author, full of life and love.

Connie touched so many in so many ways it is difficult to capture it all here but she will definitely be missed and truly remembered.

Visitation will be held from 12 – 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines with funeral service following at 2 p.m. Burial will be held on May 15, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, IA.
